Too Much Sun can be bad for you (even if you're a satellite)

Turns out it's not just Sun worshippers and idiots who can be affected by the Sun's rays.

Too Much Sun can be bad for you (even if you're a satellite)

So here's something that seems a bit obvious, only once you know about it.

Sun outages are a thing which can happen around the equinoxes, where essentially the Sun can be directly behind (from our view) certain Geostationary satellites and blast interference across their microwave-band, causing degradation of their signal or even total loss.  This is quite common and a real pain if you're transmitting live sports via those satellites!

For those who want to know more, there are calculators available to track these events.
